Nominations requested for ISGO Executive Committee
September 5, 2002
Dear International Structural Genomics Organization members,
As you know, the ISGO membership approved an executive committee membership (we three members) for the period April 2001 - October, 2002. We have extensively discussed how best to continue the administration of ISGO.
We think that the relatively informal and flexible nature of ISGO is a strong asset, and we would therefore like to propose that ISGO continue for the time being as an informal organization with an executive committee and an advisory panel, along with task forces in key areas. In order to maintain continuity, we all agree to be considered as possible continuing members for 2 additional years. We would also like to propose that 3 additional members be added to the executive committee for 4-year terms. Then in 2 years we would be replaced by a new set of 3 members.
We will provide a chance at the ISGO Task force meeting just before the ICSG2002 in Berlin for you to vote on this proposal. We will send out a notice prior to that so that absentees can vote too.
In order to make this possible, we would like to solicit nominations for the 3 new members of the ISGO executive committee. Please send your suggestions (please include the person's email address) to Tom Terwilliger (terwilliger@LANL.gov). We will check with candidates to see if they are willing to serve if elected.
We hope that all of you and many of your co-workers will be attending the ISGO International Conference on Structural Genomics, to be held in Berlin, October 10-13, 2002 (see http://www.proteinstrukturfabrik.de/ICSG2002/) and the ISGO Task force meeting on the morning of the 10th as well.
We will be looking forward to seeing you in Berlin!
Best regards,
